I couldn’t be happier with how this modern boho chic portrait shoot I did with my daughter atop a Livermore parking garage turned out. Sometimes I get a random itch to get out and shoot something different and this particular day I had that itch…like bad. My daughter and I had nothing to do. We were on our way home and I said “Hey! Wanna go out and buy you some new clothes and then go take pictures with your new glasses?” Ha! Of course she did! We bought this entire outfit at Target (Target for the win!) including her shoes. I’m not sure where I got her sunglasses since we already had those at home. But she just got her first pair of kids prescription glasses from Ray Ban which gave her a whole different look that I knew I needed to capture. I think I also wanted her to see how beautiful and fierce she is with or without the glasses since I was teased so much as a kid with glasses. Nowadays so many kids have them that the teasing seems non-existent at least in Ava’s school which I am so thankful for. So we headed home, threw the outfit together and popped her long hair up in a messy top knot, threw on a gold necklace and headed over to the Livermore Parking Garage where I had shot once before and remember the light being incredible.
Ok so let me tell you it was cold. Like freezing cold. So I knew I only had maybe 15 minutes with her before she would be done and I had to work fast. But she ended up pulling her diva face on and worked it like a real model. I was so impressed! No complaining, just had a great time modeling for me and being her cute little stylish self. And thank goodness because the light was INCREDIBLE!!! I mean scroll down and take a look at the yummy light that surrounded her. It.Was.Awesome. I LOVE sun-drenched portraits. I love light, bright and airy. Add this little cuteness into the mix and well I just can’t even over these pictures. The older she gets the more aware of herself she is and she just commands the cameras attention. She pulls you in with the way she works those eyes. For someone who has never modeled except for me and one clothing company when she was much smaller, she’s pretty darn good!
Shout out to the great staff and Dr. Kamena at Murrieta’s Optometry for the super stylish kids glasses!
