Christmas in Disneyland | Dance the Magic Parade

Is there anything better than Disneyland during Christmas time?! The answer, in case you didn’t know, is heck no! Sure, it might be a little crowded and maybe a little colder than some other months but there’s just nothing better than that nostalgic feeling of Disneyland mixed with the nostalgic feelings of Christmas. Pure Heaven. Take me back now!

Ok, to be clear, we had NO intention of going to Disneyland at Christmas time last year……until we got invited to be in Disney’s Dance the Magic Parade with my daughter’s dance studio, Xtreme Force Dance Company. Of course it was a no brainer! And although it was a little pricey, it was totally worth the experience. Best Disney trip ever. There’s always something so fulfilling to see such excitement and joy on your kid’s face, knowing they will have these amazing memories with them for a lifetime.

Since Ava was with her dance studio most of Saturday, Michael and I walked around Disneyland like two kids without parents doing whatever we wanted. Michael brought along his camera and took a ton of awesome pictures (edited by me with Kindred Presets, check them out because they are amazing!) which we’ve always wanted to do but it’s hard to lug around a camera and go on a bunch of rides but this ended up being a perfect opportunity capturing the beauty of Disneyland. He has quite the eye don’t you think??

…..now to plan our next Disney adventure!

p.s scroll to the bottom for a few pictures from the parade!

The whole reason we came…….DISNEYLAND’S DANCE THE MAGIC PARADE! Watching your kid dance down main street was an amazing experience. I know I’m bias but I think our dance studio really stood out. Such an amazing group of talented dancers and teachers. I can’t say I wouldn’t do it again this year! SO.MUCH.FUN!

Fall Inspired Tween Portraits | Pleasanton, CA

Excited to share this stylish fall inspired tween photoshoot of my girl with you! She insists that she is a tween now at almost 11 so for the sake of an argument, because clearly she is still my baby, we’ll let her run with “tween”. So here’s the scoop on this stylish little mini shoot we did and why I can only manage mini sessions of her these days. Ever since I began photography, when my daughter was a little over 1, I made it a priority to do at least one photoshoot a year around her birthday month. Her personality, her stye, her looks.. (obviously) change so much in just one year and I want her to be able to look back and see who she was that year and how she’d grown from year to year. For the most part, I got her birthday shoot done right at her birthday time in February but the last couple years…..well, that just didn’t happen as planned. It was more like oh crap it’s October and I have no photoshoots of you! Hurry up and get ready I’m going to throw something together 10 minutes before my first mini session client shows up. And instead of one great shoot, I have 5 micro mini shoots from each time I had her assist me at my mini sessions. LOL Poor kid. But she’s always been a trooper and we’ve swung some great mini shoots of her like this one from this last fall. I almost like these more because she has different styles and to be honest, I want to capture all of her. Every personality, every different smile, each different smirk. Glasses on, glasses off, hair up, hair down. I never want to forget exactly who she was at any given year. That’s the power of photography. And in our digital era we have no excuse to not take advantage of our ability to save every fleeting moment.

Here is one of a few shoots we did (very quickly) in the fall of 2017 at age 10. I had a bunch of mini sessions at Alviso Adobe Park in Pleasanton so we did a quick “glasses on” shoot a few minutes before my sessions and a few minutes after and I just love the images we got from it. This location has the best “Fall” look which went really well with her mustard Forever 21 sweater and Tilly’s black jeans. Glasses are by Ray Ban and her cute ankle boots were handed down to her from her best friend! Mini shoot success!  (*Photos edited with LXC presets)
